Grafton Street, a pedestrian thoroughfare, is Dublin's busiest shopping area, with many high-end retail stores. Rent increased on the street nearly 50% in 2004, and average 2005 rent was €3,653 /m2-year, making the street the seventh most expensive street in Europe. The congestion on the street reflects the congestion on the roads - traffic in the city has become a massive problem.
